The History of the Order of the Arrow in Vermont

Vermont Boy Scout Camps

The official mission and purpose of the Order of the Arrow states "Arrowmen are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit, promoting year-round and long term resident camping, and providing cheerful service to others."  Because promoting camping is a key purpose of the Order of the Arrow, the history of Boy Scout Camps in Vermont is an integral part of Vermont's Order of the Arrow History.  Vermont is host to a myriad of Boy Scout Camps, at one point hosting four active Boy Scout Camps.  Many people know the history of Zack Woods or Mount Norris, Camp Plymouth or Camp Sunrise...but Vermont was also home to a New York council camp, Stratton Mountain Scout Reservation!
